Eco-modulation of glass
A penalty of 50% of the base rate is applied if glass packaging features ceramic closure systems, is made from a glass composition other than soda-lime glass (common glass), such as opal or borosilicate glass, or if it contains any associated infusion elements such as porcelain or stoneware.
The revenue collected from these penalties will be allocated to studies aimed at improving the recyclability of packaging subject to eco-modulation.
Commercial packaging
At Ecoembes, the price you pay for each commercial packaging you put on the market varies depending on the material it is made of, its weight and the type of business (who are the final holders of the waste your commercial packaging generates) where the waste is managed.
There are 2 types of businesses (or final holders) depending on how they manage the packaging waste:
Shops that carry out a comprehensive and private management of more than 85% of the commercial packaging waste of which they are final holders, without making a majority use of the municipal channel.
Other businesses or final holders that do not reach this 85% of integral management (i.e. more than 20% ends up in the municipal channel) or those that take all the waste directly to the municipal containers and other cases.
To calculate your contribution to SCRAP, it is important to know the distribution of the packaging you put on the market between the two types of businesses described above, and this will determine the final amount, as you will only pay for commercial packaging that ends up in the other final holders (type 2 businesses).
For the packaging that ends up in the private management of type 1 retailers you will pay €0 to SCRAP.
